My first Sea Ray - 1999 370 Aft Cabin - Upgrade Process

just stumbled upon this thread.... as far as that decking goes, I was going to go with the teak weave snap in carpet for about $1200 , but this is like a light shining down from the heavens now! I think I will go for it.

question , I see in the listing pictures for this stuff , there is some fancy "mitered" edgework done around the teak deck sections . did you do this ? also would the edging strips be flexible to do curves? it has a bunch of that in the pictures as well.
I actually don't have any edging, I cut everything to shape by hand with a super sharp razor blade. Did the final trim after it was stuck to the boat.

it's been on all summer in the blazing Maryland heat (not so much this year) and I have to say it's still looking great. I saw the Sea Deck guys installing the same stuff on a boat a few slips away from mine the other week. It looked very nice, nicer than what I did however at $85.00 per sq ft - no thanks

thanks for the fast reply. ive been researching what I can about it on the interweb , but all the install vids are for flexiteak / plasteak etc bu it gives me the general idea. how do you like it with just the plank edges? if you had to do it again , would you try some bordering? I saw the rolls of eding material they sell with it as well. you are right %100 , I have a 95 330 da , and I can get it done and looking nice for 1/4 of the price of the other stuff. does it clean easy? what about stains?

If I had it to do over again I would take a little more time on making the template. I would still use the same product and still keep the look with out the border. There is shrinkage after the install so any border you put on will develop a small gap after the sun does it's job. I've not done it yet however I plan on laying a nice bead of black 4200 or similar around the borders and between the gaps for a more uniform look. no staining that I have seen so far. I did get a small gash in once piece however was totally my fault.

yes, the few videos out these have done that with the bead of black. good feedback on the border thing , that would be frustrating to go through the trouble then have it pull. seems like the other products use a much more aggressive adhesive for their install which probably minimizes that shrinkage.
