my first boat, what a joy

Hello everyone,
I am new to your site, but i am glad to find other boaters with old but classic, fun fiberglass boats, I bought this boat 5 years ago, it is a 1976 240 SRV, and it was a mess when i bought it, it took a lot of tender rubbing and knuckle busting to make it run, and on its final tuning at the boat shop, the guy that sold it to me was there that day, and could not believe it was the same boat:huh:, that was the start of a love affaire with this old beauty, our kids love going out and the wife has learned to like being in the water.:thumbsup:
so, to sum it up my first experience and its pains are well worth the rewards when you are on that smooth glass reflective water just cruising with the radio playing classic rock. the best.

I always figured the two are linked. It's just so amazing to be out on the water, it only makes sense it's going to be a challenge to get there. Nothing easy is worth much! :thumbsup:

I have been boating for 35 years now. And you are right, you end up having a mistress called the boat. Just like with any good relationship, there is pain and pleasure. But the best part of this is the outcome with the family. I am married for the second time, but first time with kids. The kids have been brought up on the boat. They now share in the spring prep work, enjoy all summer long, and help clean and put away in the fall. It was the best choice ever made.... second best, first is my wife.

Funny,
It's all hers until it breaks down, gets old or it needs to get paid, but the way i see it it is almost like the mistress, but you could share it with the family and friends.
