I have a 1989 searay 3.0 liter 180 bowrider, we just bought it and it feels like the engine is slipping when we take off. Does ayone know what might be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks new boater! djr81513@yahoo.com

I will guess a spun prop hub or a bad engine coupler, do you smell burnt rubber (that would be the engine coupler)?

I read other responses where they had the same problem but their boat would go just not at high rpms. Ours got us back to the dock at just above idle, but didn't even have enough power to get us on the trailer. had to winch it on.

How do you check to see if the hub is spun? Is it something a person with mechanical experience, but with no boat mechanical experience can check?

What do I need to look for when shopping for a new prop?? And how much does a decent stainless prop cost?

It may not be necessary to replace the prop, the hub is replaceable depending on the drive. I carry a spare hub in my boat (Bravo I). Pull the prop and take it to any prop shop for an answer.
