Sadly my beloved 29' Dancer named ANONYMOUS was destroyed, the transom storage hatch door with the boats name was also ripped off the boat and disappeared. I have found a replacement used boat that has a personnalized (dumb) name that I want to change. I want to re-name the replacement boat "Still ANONYMOUS". I have been told that there is a secret ceremony that must be preformed. Can anyone tell me about the ceremony ?

I dare you not to perform the ceremony , you might end up loosing two boats,,,,, :smt009

I re-named my boat and never got around to a ceremony. I would have liked to gt it done because it sounds like fun, but just never got around to it.

"still ANONYMOUS" is a new name so it is not really re-naming in true sense... just like ANONYMOUS II would be. Rename your new boat and enjoy it...and enjoy traditional naming ceremony if you want... why skip all the fun?

Some feel the ceremony is just silly superstition...but is it? I'm not really supersticious but my last name is Murphy and I don't need any bad Ju-Ju so I had the ceremony. We had 24 people there and had a blast. People are still talking about the party.

But the point is, what can it hurt. Enjoy the party.

I think the ceremony is rubish. I didn't perform any type of ceremony on my first boat when I changed the name, and after the accident, I didn't perform one on it's replacement either. After it blew up and sank, I didn't on the third either....or the fourth, fifth or sixth, or even the seventh. Bah Humbug. Now, if you use the ceremony as an excuse to party, well, maybe there is reason for a ceremony after all.

OMG my stomach hurts from that one. SOOOOO true.

Im with Lazy Daze. My first boat had some spanish something on it, no one knew what the heck it meant. So I removed it and renamed it with my name, it cracked the head within a month. Second boat (its replacement), I removed the old name and had an awesome logo with the name made and put IT on and POOOOF lost that one in a break up. third boat I did not rename. This boat, we removed the name and have yet to put the new name on it.... BUT I WILL be doing every frigin ceremony I can can find out about. I'll keep you updated. ;)

Ours was a great day with the family, BBQ at the dock ,music and I had my oldest son be the master of ceremonies. Alot of fun I'm Irish also, so superstitions are part of our culture!!! I was taking any chances
