What is on all of your Boating "Playlists"?

Who's your favorite artist(s) to listen too?

Personally I like Kenny Chesney, Dave Matthews and some old Classic rock from time to time. Mainly nice background music.

I say it every year I need to buy some Buffet, I just haven't yet. It's a boating Classic.

Dave Matthews

Amongst others, but the range is varried including some of Seattles favorites, Nirvana, older Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Mudhonney, Audio Slave, and on and on, but DMB gives the name to my boat JIMI THING II so, politics aside they're the sentimental favorite for "chilaxin" on the Mighty Ohio:thumbsup:

Oh yeah, James Morrison (not the dead one) is good boatin' music as well

Lots of stuff on the boat as we use the IPod and have an XM Tuner. We like to listen to Watercolors on XM, a smooth jazz station and Lucy, Alternative Rock. Sometimes we venture over to Squizz. The IPod has everything from Michael Buble to Seether to Rage Against the Machine to John Mayer to 80's Disco/Dance to Simon and Garfunkel ("Mrs Robinson" of course) to Whitesnake to Three Days Grace to Frank Sinatra to Hinder to Bob Marley to Puddle of Mudd. So, depending on the mood and how much we have had to drink, we are all over the place.

If my dock neighbor plays margaritaville one more time i'll sink his boat. I was waxing a few weeks ago and the idiot had it on repeat, for hours :smt021
Mostly classic rock for me, CCR, The Doors, Van Morrison, Eagles, etc. Pretty much anything from the sixties. If you have to speak ebonics to understand it, it ain't playin on my boat. SB

Reminds me of a time a buddy left a Nickelback CD in all night, he left the boat to go to a party. I was singing Nickelback for weeks after that.

UUughhhh...No Buffet! Geez I dont get what people like about that stuff.

Same on land or water...mostly alt modern rock like fallout boy or All American Rejects, older alt rock like tool and rage against the machine, music almong the lines of Sublime and skindred, any Reggae at all, some classic rock like zep and ozzy, the Beatles have always been in my top few groups and remains there forever, some rap like eminem and 2livecrew, etc...

NO country (it's an IQ test imo), dance, disco or most top 40 commercially vomited prepackaged mind-numbing repetitive music for dolts.

It's Buffett most every time i'm on the boat but we do tune the XM to channel 26 for some good alternative rock. Lots of Nickelback cd's also along with Pearl Jam, James Taylor, Dylan and Bob Segar. Everyone has there own music and we try to play a mix depending on the company on the boat.

I've got a songs of summer playlist I've put together. It's full of summer classics, from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Beach Boys, Buffett, Eagles, Elton John, Skynyrd, BTO, Meat Loaf, Simon and Garfunkel, lovin' Spoonful, Nillson, Croce, etc.

re: Buffett, it's just good fun, no brainer have a fun time kind of music. Easy to listen to, and easy lyrics to sing to, mixed with a little tequila or corona/landshark, good times.

ok - so how about something completely different... Bob Dylan, John Prine, Lucy Kaplanski, Delbert McClinton - the boat is for relaxing after all... Of course there are times when the kids swap ipods on me and all of the sudden I'm listening to Miley Cyrus, Naked Brothers band or a few good things which I loaded on their ipods when they weren't looking: Plain White T's, Blue October, Maroon 5, One Republic, etc

lol...ok, this has happened to me but not under protest. When the girls are out on the boat (12 and 8) I let them choose the music in their iPods the entire day.

THis weekend we are without all 3 kids, so the music will once again be the wife's and mine, both have the exact taste in music. Love her!

You forgot Screaming Trees on a good Seattle list, haha.

I definately will be getting Sirius on my new boat, the 90s alternative channel is awesome.

What no Snoop, Flo Rida, Eminem, Ludacris? What about old school? Run DMC? Beastie Boys? Got em all, but then again, no Toby, Trent, Billy Ray (or Miley for that matter) so hey that's why there's so much music and such varried tastes. Best of all, we're all wet on the bottom while enjoying the aformentioned:thumbsup:

Yeah, I listen to pretty much everything, except for Hip/Hop Rap Crap, I have those first 4 too, even some jazz and classical, but I have no idea who Toby Keith is.

We just had our local annual (25th yr) Jazz festival here a week or so ago, and they have jazz bands playing up and down the local outside downtown walking mall. (Burlington's Church Street Marketplace for those of you up in the Northeast). And, we're listening to this good jazz band, and these 2 rappers get on(friends of the jazz band I guess), and start doing their music ... and we're asking each other "This is Jazz? I think not!" Their intonation sounded like they were singing the Fresh Prince of Belair song... We had to laugh at how lame it was.
