Moving up

Tim, if you were to get a 47DB, then we could have an "Official 47DB thread". No fun by myself.

Just a couple of thoughts on the size and mobility aspect, as we went from 310 to a 370 this past year.

Could get the 310 around "ok". Still a lot of boat on the road, and required permits and signage - but it pulled nicely with Ram 3500 Dually. The 370, forget it - at least for us. The size difference is a lot more than just the 6'.

We boat on a mountain lake, where the boat has to come out of the water for winter. No lifts or anything, so a trailer is mandatory. Being this size of course, it's a big trailer and custom built - which of course isn't cheap. Don't forget to factor that into the cost - it's not a small one. Then of course you have to be able to move it......safely and legally. A lot of cost associated with that aspect as well.

If I had to, would I do it all over again? Faster than you could blink your eyes - love the space and amenities of a bigger boat.

390 with diesels!! Do it once and never look back. It gets much more expensive when you buy/sell/trade three times! Good luck

I'm with him. Don't get three foot itis several times, get fifteen foot itis once! BTW re the 390, I have a friend looking to sell his 2006 390 SR Motor Yacht. It's listed by Marine Max in Somers Point NJ for a steal. I've been on it and the inside appears brand new. I know he runs it often to keep it limber and this man and his wife take care of their stuff. My wife wanted me to buy it, but I'm an express guy....

i just recently went from a 290 Sundancer to a 370 Venture. Love it! Super roomy above and below. Cockpit entertaining and seating is second to none in a 35-40' boat! and if you wanna get somewhere in a hurry, it will go as fast as your 260! and handles like a sportfish boat when the seas get rolling. did i mention it's so quiet you forget if the engines are on while at the dock?

Dino, do you have any idea what you would sell your boat for? I'm seriously starting to look for my first boat and I'm definitely looking in the 24-28ft. range, so yours would fall right in the middle. I will be keeping it in Falmouth on the Cape.

Let me know if you actually get to that point.

Steve

I was in the same boat as you(pun intended). I live close to a marina(600 feet). So I trailer my 39 home for the winter. Can't imagine it over the road any distance. 600 feet is stressful enough. Plus the risk, prob not worth it. Some of the guys here are throwing out numbers that are pretty low though. I'm in mystic and it's prob cheaper than Boston. A 50' slip here runs $6500+. Winter storage 42' oal x 50 = $2100(outside) None of the marinas will let shrink the boat so plan on another $23 per foot for that. Grand total around $9600 plus. tax and maintenance, winterization etc. comparing a 26 to a 39 is like comparing apples to hand grenades. BTW I spent 10k on the truck and trailer and it costs me like $350 each way for the travel lift to put it on the trailer.

Ross,
do you leave it on the trailer for the winter or to you set her on blocks?

Hi Harold, Actually I block under the trailer and lower the hydraulics. On the trailer but mechanically stored with screw jacks and blocks.

I just upgraded from my Sundancer 330 to a Formula 41 PC. Nuts? Yes probably but you only live ONE TIME. I'm enjoying my life. BTW shameless plugs --- my 330 is for sale! LOL!!!!

Take a look in the classifieds our 380 is for sale. Lots of upgrades. Only reason for sale is closing on a new boat in a few weeks
