mounting ratchet mount

I just got a replacement ratchet mount that came with a rubber gasket for the base. I'm just wondering if it would be better to use sealant rather that the gasket. Any ideas ?

He's referring to an antenna mount (I'm assumin')

I would use sealant, either instead of or in addition to, the gasket.

It's the adjustable mount for the antenna that can be locked in different positions and folded down for storage , etc.

It looks like I'll go with the sealant by itself. I'm thinking about using the 3M 4200 sealant. Has anyboby else used this stuff ?

How was the old one attached? Any problems with that? If not, put the new one back on the exact same way.

The old one is plastic & is bedded with sealant. It has screws in it too, but I think I'll replace them with SS bolts & locknuts :smt001
