Hey Paul, do you have a Grab Rail on either side of the Radar Ach? I do on my 310 and mounted one of these on each side. Why drill into the Glass when you don't have too!

I was going to do same thing add a few more flush mounts. it seems there are two schools of thought on them
you either make hole a bit bigger to handle the angle, or you turn the pole holders upside down and drill in at same angle as pole holder, some even suggested dong this on a 2 x 4 to make a template .... you know the old adage... measure twice cut once....;)

good luck

OK, I'm going to go a bit against the grain here. I've installed pole holders on 3 boats and I think you are making too much of how closely you have to monitor the hole size and angle. The flange on the pole holder covers the hole and them some. I would drill the hole to the right size, then if it's too tight use a file or dremel tool to enlarge it slightly where needed.

Once you have the hole drilled and the pole holder flange fits down flush with the deck, then drill the holes for the screws. Here's where the hole size is critical. Too small and you're likely to break off the screws as you try to drive them in. Too large and they don't bite well.

Also, a little bit of hand soap on the threads of the screws will help them go into the fiberglass a bit more easily.
