So now that we have our boat at River's Edge we are ready to start exploring a little. I was think Morris Island might be a good first spot to check out. Me and the Admiral really just like to find a nice spot to sit out and relax and get in the water to cool off once and a while.

Any place instead of Morris Island I should check out this weekend?

Looking at the charts it looks like the inlet to Morris Island can be tricky, how bad is it? You can't come from the harbor in a back way can you?

Been learning in the Lakes for last few months, but now seems like we have to learn all over again for harbor/ocean/current/tides/etc.

First thing you need to do is find Sadler ie "Hey Bade" ask Frank he will show you where his slip is at the dock. Talk to him he can help and think about joining Carolina Boaters, RE is sort of our home base.
Have a good weekend!

So now I have to admit I am not that old (43) and I work in the technology field but don't have a Facebook account. Guess I will have to create one thanks

Gotta get with the 21st Century! We used to have a yahoo group account, but had trouble with posting & pictures.

PM me you email address because I think you have to be a member to see the page.

Welcome to Carolina Boaters Pete. Just approved your request. Getting to Morris Island the back way is pretty easy after you've done it once. Basically, you go under the Folly Bridge and up the back tidal creeks to Morris Island. However, there are a few places where it's easy to run aground or make a wrong turn. To get there with little stress, you could just follow a boat from Folly Beach who looks like they're headed up the creek to MI, or follow one of us next time we go, or I could email you the track if you have a Garmin. Or, I could show you on your GPS or a map when we see each other at RiversEdge.

Another way is that you can go in or out through the Lighthouse Inlet from Charleston Harbor, but my track for that way is stale. I've been looking for a calm day to run it and get a new track on the gps, but for now that way isn't an option for me.

I use a Garmin 740. We are leaving Goose Creek heading to River's Edge now. Planned on a much earlier start but somebody broke something at work :smt021

Plan to explore a little today, and then hang out on the boat tomorrow as we finish getting it cleaned up and work out a few more of the minor issues.

Hope to see you there. I am the biggest guy on the dock, and the boats "Watertight Albi" with a green top.

In Myrtle Beach today with 5 12-13 year olds celebrating my daughter's 13th birthday, but will be at marina next weekend for awhile. Hope to see you then. I'll pm you my slip and cell phone number.

Well wound up in the maintenance rack instead of cruising to Morris Island :smt009

The port engine which has been a little stuburn idling decided to be darn stuburn today and not start. I knew it needed a full tune up and probably carb cleaned but was hoping to enjoy the weekend and have get it done next week. Yeah Right!

So we spent the day in the maintenance rack working on all other other little things that were still on the todo list. Going back tomorrow to do the final cabin cleaning since I am all done with my work in the cabin now.

Will be on maintenance rack again next Saturday for tune up, and hopefully on the water in tip/top shape come Sunday!

I'll email you the track to Morris Island Pete. It'll be next week some time since I'll have to get home and pull out my Windows laptop and bring up the track.
