More Music On The Boat Questions???

Careful. Lars Ulrich will be targeting you. Google Napster and Metallica if you don't know the reference... They tried suing me over Napster years ago even though I had bought all their ALBUMS, tapes and then CDs.

They nailed quite a few college kids I remember. I think the ones that really got prosecuted weren't the ones downloading just for themselves. I don't know though.

Problem: I have an older I pod with songs I have put into different groups to play. The new I pod will not let me copy alot of the songs from the old I pod. How do I fix this. Had to buy new I pod my new Ram truck would not recognize the old I pod.

Years ago I ripped all my CDs to my computer. I’ve found that occasionally whole albums will get deleted from my phone. When the phone syncs the missing albums get removed from my computer. I’m sure it’s all settings based, but heck if I know what I’m doing wrong. This never happens with the albums I’ve bought digitally.

I don’t have a stereo on my boat. The old clarion was bad when I bought her. I installed a Bluetooth receiver and one of us will pair yo it. Whether my stored library or the kids.

I suppose some self-proclaimed audiophiles might tell the difference in a studio setting. Out here in the real world, Apple Music is just fine.

I'm Spotify as well. It has the ability to connect to a large variety of devices on and off the boat including the Fusion units, my car and my Onkyo home stereo. You can stream from a smart TV on the boat to the Fusion as well.

Using Spotify on an apple device connected via Airplay to Fusion Apollo gets you album art on the head unit...nice little feature.

Music quality is pretty good, or at least good enough for my ears.

Who knew loud rock music, shooting guns and flying airplanes without headsets would harm your hearing...

okay, great stuff! But, please help me with this solution, because I can’t get it to work. If I connect to Fusion by WiFi (so I can AirPlay), then the phone is on Fusion, which is not connected to the internet. The phone cannot use its built-in internet connection, because it’s connected to WiFi - fusion. So there’s no internet connection to stream from the web.

What am I missing? In your scenario, how are you streaming Spotify?

I believe that both the head unit and the phone need to be connected to the same wifi with internet access...

I have WiFi with internet access on the boat, but you may be able to Hotspot your phone to make it work...but I’ve never tried this.

I connect to fusion with Bluetooth, not sure if that would make a difference. Whatever my phone has, seems to get to fusion.

Easy Fix. Go into settings, wifi, and click on your fusion network. Change configure ip to manual and manually put in the ip and subnet but leave the router blank. This will connect you to the radio via wifi but allow the iphone to use a data connection. In the network settings on the fusion from the headunit make sure it is set to static ip and not DHCP as well.
