Long story short, I ordered a new lift for my slip back in April, was supposed to be a 3 week turn around, and maybe 4 weeks total to be installed. 6-6-11, Still no lift.

So, i'm sick and tired of having to put the boat in the lake every time i want to use it.

I think i've decided to go out this week, put the boat in the slip, and moor it wet at least through the weekend.

Question is, in fresh water, sand/mud bottom, upper 80's low 90's temps, how long does it generally take to start seeing growth?

It absolutely churns my stomach to think of my nice shiny clean boat turning into scum, be it the hull or outdrive.

Are there any precautionary/preventative steps i can take to prevent growth, prior to the soak?

Just pull the boat say once a week and wash the hull until you get the lift installed. I do not know how long it will take but I have my lift stored boats in the water for at least a week at a time without any growth that will not easily wash off. The hardest part to clean to me is actually right at the water line.
