Month Long Cruise PCB - Key West - 340

Remember my buddy in Carrabelle, Dick? Seems like he's still cruising too:

Today, we went across the street to the beach for a while. In the first pic, the dark blob in the water out in front of Shelli is a huge manatee (thank God). An 11 year-old boy came out of the water with an I-phone from his pocket. His mom spent the next 2 hours blowing water out of it (no kidding - Google it).
After that, we went for a bikeride and checked out the entire resort "South Seas." Kind of like a cruise ship - trapped, everything available, but no freedom. We bought some cow flesh in their market for tomorrow night.
We then toured some more. Back to the dock for steaks on the barby, then, back to the beach for sunset. There's a cool breeze. It's quite comfy tonight.

Back in Hudson a couple of weeks ago, a big Blue Crab drags the carcass of a catfish down to the bottom:

South Seas is our favorite cruise, except for the Rates!!! They have the trolley to the end of the property.

We're still in 'Tween Waters. We rode bikes to investigate South Seas. Too much like a cruise ship for me. I like things a little more rustic, with a pool - at least quieter.

We've decided to anchor outside next to Cayo Costa for tonight, then Palm Island Marina tomorrow night.

Hey John,

Looks like you are having a great time. I'm happy for you and your wife. It all worked out and you made it!

As you lay awake in bed before drifting off to sleep for the night do you miss driving that high performance exotic sports car in the sky?

No, not yet. I hung on to that long enough to last a lifetime.

Somehow I just saw this thread. I'm not sure how I missed it. WOW! You have had a trip of a lifetime. It appears you've had not only great company, but great weather and have taken some great shots. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Very cool

Thanks, Todd!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone, I'm outside at Cayo Costa, and you're not, beotch!

Ain't technology great!

Skol, Compai, Cheers, Guten Tag, Salut!

Winds have been out of the East for weeks. Today, we are anchored on the West side, and winds turned West after I posted that dang post above. The wife was not pleased with the rocking. The winds have gone NW now, and should go NE. The rain has passed. OK - I'm sorry!

This took 3 hours to upload out here:

So, we have a lot to catch up on. As we left Tween Waters yesterday morning, 2 dolphins graced us with their presence. The video is a must watch - give me time to upload it. Then, we followed a local out of the pass North of N Captiva Island and anchored out as mentioned above. We had a great afternoon, but winds went West for a few hours and made things rough.

We had quiet rainshowers with rainbows, and saw the most sea life we've ever seen in one day. Many, many dolphins, a few manatees, tons of tarpon, flying rays, and quite the variety of birds. The day calmed down and winds came around to the East, so we cooked up burgers and settled in for the night after a long walk along the beach (following a manatee along).

I slept fine, but Shelli couldn't sleep with a little rocking and water slapping the hull, so, at 4am I got up and made up the sun lounge in the cockpit. We slept out there until I couldn't resist getting sunrise photos. Within an hour, we pulled up anchor and headed North, back inside, and we are now at one of our favorite marinas, Palm Island. There's a Marine Max here with a 470 currently out on demo.

We catching a ride down town for groceries, then more to come.
