Mold/Mildew Stains

Hello,

Recently purchased a Sea Ray which has significant mold stains on the seats/upholstery, steering wheel, handles etc..

We live in the northeast, boat sat covered for 2 seasons and water penetrated the cover.

What's the best product for mold abatement??

Trying to avoid replacing all of the upholstery.

Try an oxiginated cleaner like Oxyclean, or Yachtbrite Moldaway. Both work well for surface mold & mildew...if the stain has penetrated into the vynl...it may take a summer of full sun to fade the stain, or replacement.

Have used Hydrogen Peroxide with moderate success.

Had to do the entire cabin of my 2001 380 Sundancer. Used soft scrub gel with bleach in the green bottle with a combination sponge and scoth brite pad and had excellent results. Will not hurt the vinyl or discolor it. This was the only thing I found that would remove the mold and it has not come back.

Glad it worked out, i had mole when we first took possession of our 310 and it was on the underside of the arch canvas,
i used bleach and water 50/50 and it never came back,:thumbsup:

I have used the magic sponge pads with great success. The pads do not last long but work very well

Spray 9 works well, I used it this spring, along with Tilex(which is basically bleach). Things I've heard about the magic sponge (some in here) keeps me from ever using them on anything but tubs or similar materials.

Damp Rid makes a mold and Mildew remover. I have used it with success on the underside of my canvas! Be wary of the magic eraser sponge. That is a very fine abrasive that can cause damage to vinyl over time!
