Good morning. I have a 1988 270da. I am wondering, has anyone changed their bimini top so there is more head room above the drivers area? I need to do this, but not sure what is all involved. I have seen other Sea Ray's with extra headroom above the windshield, but I am not sure on the hardware needed to make the change.

Please help!

Sometimes you can loosen the supports and slide them up/down to change the angle and give you more headroom. Problem is if you have glass on the front that may change the front length and they may no longer fit.

In your signature picture, it appears you have a radar arch. Changing the height of your bimini would mean making it go OVER and around your arch (basically, your arch would be on the inside of the canvas). It might be better to just remove it. All of the front/side/rear curtains would need to be changed, as well. It can definitely be done, but you're looking at a whole new setup.

You have the storm top which comes factory on our Sea Rays. I think the kind you want is the bimini style top with the isinglass visor shield. That requires a whole different support structure, top, side curtains etc. If done right, they look nice on our boats, but it’s gonna cost a few bucks.
