I set up my electric system so everything in the boat runs from house batteries except the starter, ignition, trim tabs and outdrive control. The house batteries top off at 400 amp hrs. at about 14 volts. They run the tv, stereo, cuddy lights, vhf radio, radar and navigation including point i, depth temp and speed sensor, fuel flow, water pump for sink, refrigerator and all other lights including navigation and anchor. As a test i turned everything on and went to bed for the night. The test was about 11 hours and i turned every thing off except the refrigerator (its always on, been running for about 2 months). The batteries were down to about 94% and were full to max by mid afternoon. The house and starter batteries both have solar panels and are both charged through a Victron splitter from engine alternator when running. I don't think i'll ever need shore power or separate battery charger.
