Has anyone had their MMDC box go bad on a 560DB with Cat 3406E’s? I am looking for the pin outs for the input connector for the MMDC box. Not sure if it would be the same as the one in another post for the 3196/QSM-11. Mine is bad and looking to go with 2 smaller chart plotters to replace the 4” gauges. I’m assuming someone has done this already.

If you search MMDC there are a few pages of post's regarding this. Although I am not sure there are any pinouts involved.

Your MMDC is not that popular. I assume you are looking for the CAN (J1939?) outputs to convert to NMEA 2000?

I think the output from the engines and input to the MMDC is the J1708/J1587. Both fuel and rudder position are analog. I think the newer engines like C15 & C18 use the newer J1939 protocol. I am looking at the Yacht devices J1708/J1587 - NMEA 2000 converter. Anybody have any experience with that?

I would contact YD's directly they might be able to help you out with the pinout. Cat's are listed as a supported engine, so you are probably good to go with that.

I use their YDEG-04 for my jet boat and it works great. A little setup through the use of a mSD card, but straight forward.

What did you end up using for gauges? Just show on chart plotters?

You have a few option for displays. The Garmin GMI20, Raymarine i70s and the Maretron DSM410.

While I have the GMI20's, I favor the Raymarine i70s. The GMI 20 will only show RPM in increments of 50RPM.

You could also get a GPSMAP 7/943 which will display two engines at once.

I think my MMDC started dying a few years ago. It started by the gauges instead booting immediately, they would take a few seconds to come up, to a minute or two, to 15 minutes, to more than an hour. I was getting low voltage of 4v +/- on the static +7v pin until I guess it warmed up and got the voltage up to whatever is the minimum voltage for the MMDC to boot and then the gauges would come alive. I sent it in to see if a repair shop could do anything, but that failed. Time to move on. We have owned the boat for nearly 8 years and absolutely love it. We have been to the Bahamas many times and all the way to the Turks and Caicos in this boat. Just pick your days.
