Hi guys, It's becoming a popular trend here in the Philippines. People are mixing 2t or 2 stroke oil to their diesel engine
cars and trucks fuel tanks. However no one has clearly explained the benefits. They say in quiets the knock and smoothens the engine. Have any of you guys have experienced doing this on your boat engines? Thanks.

mixing oil in the diesel is nothing new. it is something old timers would do with 2 stroke detroits or even older mechanical CATS and Cummins motors. I know of people who use their old crankcase oil to mix in the diesel--to winterize or for long periods of downtime in all kinds of construction equipment. I WOULD NOT do this in a modern diesel. The benefit on the 2 stoke motors was to cover the internal parts of the airbox with a little more oil and to lube the injectors, as you may know , on a 2 stroke diesel, a stuck rack can cause a runaway engine. this is not needed on a good running engine or one that is run regularly and there are a lot of additives on the market that are safe for modern 4 stroke motors. check out boatdiesel.com
