Has anyone found an adapter to use a Mityvac 7201 on the Mercruiser? I'd rather screw on to the dipstick tube instead of sliding the small tube down all the way. Is a garden hose the same thread? If worse comes to worse I'll make something up.

yes - garden hose is the same thread - jabsco makes a nice hand pump that screws right on
Thanks. I have the Quicksilver hand pump at our house in NH from a Chris Craft I used to own. I have a Mityvac at my house here in VA already that I've used for a couple of years for a few things and like it a lot better. Seeing how the thread is the same, I'll just pick up a female hose fitting and make something up. Thanks.

Something like this should work.

Or... you can simply use a 3/8" ID hose that slips tightly onto the MV's "stiff" hose and also onto the small extension on the dipstick tube. Most times you don't even have to use a band clamp at the dipstick end. Either way will work just as well.

I use a $29 Shopvac from Walmart. Way more suction than a hand pump. Put the nozzle over the threaded tube, and wrap duct tape around the connection point as a reducer.

Thanks for the dope slap lol I guess I might be over engineering. I'll check it out. I have a ton of 3/8" hose in the garage.
