Jaboli passed away a year ago. What a character. They say Ridgeback aren't crazy about the water, guess they never meet Jaboli. He loved the boat. When I was at the helm he'ld be right there beside me.

Pet anniversaries are rough. Sorry, I know how you feel. Good looking dog. You can see the intelligence in his eyes. Are you ready to get a new one yet? My wife never had a dog growing up, but I always did. She now loves our dog more than anyone or any thing. He's only 8 but man, its going to be rough when the inevitable time comes. I expect we'll get a puppy before to help the grief.

Jaboli was a rescue from the RidgeBack rescue. His owner had passed and our pack was just what he needed. He was truly a character; loads of personality and just a fun guy.

Our Pug Chester died in 2016, I still miss him. Especially now with working at home, he would have been laying in the chair in my office watching the day go by...sometimes I still expect him to come bouncing up the stairs.

In Jaboli's case I still put my sandwich in the microwave or possible in the sink should I have to walk away. He was a professional counter suffer.

Last year we were walking back from the beach and he just laid down; Heart problem. A picture we had enlarged as a wall hanging arrived a week later. After we hung it our other Ridgeback kept looking at it; whining and acting dejected.

Our black Lab Sailor adopted us in June, 2019. He's become such a member of the family it's difficult to explain to someone who doesn't have a dog.

We still get up every morning for his ~1/2 hour walk, rain or shine, no matter the temp. I've had dogs all my life but Sailor is, by far, the most intuitive and intelligent dog I've ever had the pleasure of being a partner with.

He's getting long in the tooth and his walks are taking longer because he walks a little slower. It will just about kill me when he passes.

Odie passed the week before Thanksgiving, 14 1/2 years of love, multiple blue ribbons for agility & rally. He started getting sick in Oct. having a tough time keeping food in him, many vet trips, and several days of IV outpatient therapy...
On the final day he refused water and had not eaten in 3 days, he had fought for a month, but he was ready to say goodbye and that is the HARDEST thing of pet ownership, Goodbye Odie.

This big old barn cat would not leave my bed after my heart attack and surgery. He passed last year after a snake bite
