OK here's and easy one - the mirror in the head has a hinge across the top - is it meant to open? I tried but didn't want to force it for fear of breaking resulting in seven years bad luck:)

Mine has a single piece of industrial Velcro in the center of the mirror. If you use a long spatula-like object you can help separate the mirror back from the wall. It appears that it is mounted in this way in order to hide any mounting screws (the hinge is screwed to the wall and then the mirror is hinged down to hide them). Mirror itself is attached/mounted to a backing piece of mdf-like material.

I replaced mine with no4 stainless steel W/ 6 big spring paper clips on it. We use it to hang towel and wet bathing suits

Thanks guys - ok so there is no space behind that one could use. Thanks.

I believe all you have to do is press the mirror on the bottom and it will release itself to be flipped up at least that's what mine does
