Mid to late 90 270 need input

I just got my boat delivered and already have questions.

This is the first boat I have owned with shore power.

First, how does the shore power charge the batteries?

I have 2 sets of batteries.

Do I set the batteries to Both or Off?

Nothing electrical seems to work and I am wondering if the batteries just need a good overnight charge on shore power?

When I plugged in the power cord, I got a green light and when I turned the shore power button on, the needle went to 120.

Is there anything else I need to do to get the batteries up and running?

On the shore power I did notice the air conditioner light came on and we plugged in a lamp and got it to light so we are making progress!

Thanks!

Once you turn the power on and u have juice on the meter just hit the switch that reads ad converter that should turn on your battery charger. If your not sure jut peak your head into the engine compartment and c if the lights are on on the charger itself. Everything else on the fuse panel is pretty self explanitory. It doesn't matter if the battery's are on or off they will charge when I'm away from my boat I always turn the battery's off. If your batteries are stone dead and u don't know how old they are just go buy new ones nothing is worse than being stuck on the water becouse of a dead battery and if there flood type make sure there's water in them. Go to searay.com and download the owners manual. Teaches you how everything works.

I thought that switch was for the air conditioner and did not have it turned on....LOL

One more pressing question.

We are putting up the camper top to protect it from the weather and allow us to work (and CLEAN) the boat.

We got the sides all zipped on the Bimini top.

However, the canvas is a good 4 inches above the bottom snaps. There is just no way to pull them down.

Frankly, the side canvas looks new and probably were never used.

The only way I can figure out how to lower the canvas is to adjust the sliding arms on the polls that fasten to the boat.

Am I right, will these allow for the top of the bimini to lower for the canvas to snap into the boat fittings?

These look to have different fittings put on the piece that looks like they tighten into the poll.

Any ideas on how to losen these fillings or what they are? Are they screws allen screws or what?

Thanks for your help!

The fuse panel should have anotherswitch labeled air conditioner. Bu ft as for.the top, I could b.wrong but those are.probably rivets and cannot be adjusted but again I may b wrong. My boat has 2 sets of snaps on it one foe bimine above glass for windshiel and another for the mooring cover (below glass) make sure your.using the.right snaps other than that not surs

Duck, have you turned the valve? I have the same thing in the starboard side locker and it is the transom shower valve. It pumps water from the onboard fresh water tank. This is the firs thought that comes to my mind without seeing exactly where it is.

Ron for the canvas the back upright support is moveable. there should be a button to release and slide it up or down. Usually you tilt it it up to secure the front Eisenglas and pull it back down to tension and secure the the sides.

Always start the zippers a few inches then secure the perimeter, then finish zipping closed. Works much easier for me that way.

Duck the red handled valve is probably a wash down spigot. Can be used from either city water or the water tank.

I have sent you an email and will gladly take you up on sending me any manuals I might need.

My boat came with NO manuals.

So far I have downloaded almost 200 pages of manuals from Sea Ray and they tell me almost nothing.

I have downloaded:

97 and 98 139 page Owner’s manual

1998 67 page Owner’s manual specific information

1999 1027 page Merc Service manual for 7.4 engine

1998 4 page Brochure on 270 DA

I am amazed at the total BS of generic language with NOTHING specific to the boat!!!!!

Rather, I keep reading about referring to other manufactures manuals etc.

Even a simple outline that any car has of the instrument panel and the associated switches is missing.

Nothing about which switches work with shore power, battery power and the interaction between them, the setting of the switches etc.

Nothing about the ignition switch and the card that needs inserted.

Nothing about most anything that allows someone to actually start the boat, turn on all the right switches and their operation.

Nothing about light switches locations or even how to replace a simple light bulb.

Right now, I have the boat hooked up to shore power and possibly charging dead batteries, who knows because I have nothing to tell me in any of these manuals how to test to see if the batteries took a charge.

All I can say is:

WOW!
