I have a 1997 Searay 185BR and have ordered a aftermarket swim platform. Ordered in March 2020 and received it Aug 12, 2020. When i tried to install the platform, it wouldn't fit.
Radius of the curve is off by 2" and the its approx 4 3/4" from even coming close to touching the Transom.
Called the company, and they are telling me that SeaRay made a Mid-Season mold change on the 185BR in 1997.
Can anyone, confirm this.
Right now, I have a $1600 paperweight!!

Can you post your hull id. # and where did you get the platform from?

Mitch, my hull ID is 185BR3695. I don't want to disclose the Manufacturer at this time. They seem to be addressing the issue, and make another platform.

That's good to hear.

They need to make a note in their ordering process to ask for the hull number going forward once these situations are known to ensure the customer receives the correct item.

I contacted SeaRay Customer Support, they couldn't confirm the mid-season mold change. The phone support staff only has access to vessels 10yr and newer. I'm sure someone would know, probably a more veteran staff member. They did tell me that this forum was started by older SeaRay vessel owners, and that I may find the answer here.

Platform company has stated this morning that, " I think we used the wrong Mold" . So this thread is no longer needed.

Thanks everyone for you replies.... Awesome Group of Captains

Hey Jeff -

How did this work out for you? I’m looking at getting the same swim platform from the same company (it’s not too hard to figure out who it is as there are only two major ones and they both have a similar name - haha). Just wondering if it’s going to be worth my time and money.

how hard was the install? Can you share any pics of your boat with it on? And is it worth it?? Thanks bud!! Much appreciated
