Mid-90's 270 Sundancer Thread

Hello
I wonder if anyone has found a place to buy new plastic rollers for the midcabin curtain rail on a 270da 1997?
It`s a small white plastic roll to hang the curtain on the rail, about 1/4" diameter.
I need about 10 pc`s.
Best regards from Sweden where the season has ended and we are just waiting for the snow.

Hi Berkan,
i found replacement rollers at our local hardware store. Here in Canada that type of rod and rollers are used for domestic curtains as well. They are very inexpensive. If you can't find them in Sweden I would be happy to send you a package.

The galley sink drain on our boat is completely missing. Literally a hole in the bottom of the sink, and no drain hose or anything. If somebody could take a quick pic of theirs with the plumbing going out that would really be appreciated so I can see what I need to do to get it functional again.

It is not hard plumbed. It has a flexible line from the trap to the thru-hull that is looped to create a drain trap. I will try to get a shot for you. If I remember correctly the head drain is similar.

Thanks for the update MM. The manual calls out for several parts so I'm having a hard time putting together what's what. I'll check the head sink next time I'm out there. I'd still like to see a pic if you could.

1996 Sundance 270 with Mercruiser 7.4 Bravo 2. I am having the hardest time finding which hole the oil dipstick tube bracket goes into. It was a rebuild and the mechanics put the bracket way up high at the gear lube fill tank. The tube keeps popping out of oil pan because I know it supposed to be lower based off diagrams but nothing shows where the bracket is supposed to attach to. Does the dipstick bracket screw attach to a hole in the block? Or one of the exhaust manifold bolts? Can someone please take a picture of the bracket and also the tube going into the oil pan. Seeing if the tube just uses an oring going into oil pan or with some sort of seal.

No 12 VDC

Brought the boat home on Monday and plugged it in to shore power. Tuesday night did some work and had the cabin lights and a 12V fan on. Turned everything off and buttoned it up. Wednesday and Thursday night left the AC galley light on. Friday night tried to turn on the DC cabin lights and fan and got nothing. At helm switches only accessory and bilge switches light up. No blower or lights or horn etc.
Power panel is on, converter is on. It's like the batteries are dead.
I thought I might try to start it on the muffs in the morning.
Any ideas what might be going on here? Other than the charger I'm not sure where to start.

Re: No 12 VDC

Well, as it happened, I got a real break. As I was closing the cabin door, the power came on and everything worked. Closed the door and lost all power.
Pulled the breaker panel and located a wire that had pulled out of a poorly crimped connector. Replaced the connector and all is well. Even had time to go for a ride on the river!

Hi all! Just picked up my 1994 270 Sundancer bought here in Las Vegas. Got the boat home with no trouble and while cleaning her, noticed one of the aft cabin pads were a bit wet. Lifting up the pads in the aft cabin shows two wells beneath the bed. No one at the Marina showed me these, or told me what they are for. They both had water in them and I don't see any drain holes. I cleaned and dried them out but could someone tell me what they are for, and why they might have water in them. Sorry for the newbie question but this is my first big boat.

Mike

Welcome Mike. I assume you are referring to storage lockers (with wood cover). They should remain dry. The water is there because you have a leak somewhere. Take a close look around, especially near the window(s) for any signs of water.
Good luck!

Mike, it took me over a year of owning mine before I found those storage lockers! They def should not be wet though. Gotta have a leak coming from somewhere.

Thats what i thought too Brian. So I dried and cleaned them all out, went out for the day and no water in them so I think Im good. Maybe someone didnt close the windows? Who knows. So far so good. Also, Im looking for the aft fold down seat that fits into the transom as it apparently was lost years ago if anyone knows where I can find one.

As for the aft seat, you'll have a challenge finding one. Mine was all rotted out and I just ended up rebuilding it. This was a common problem on our era 270s from what I can tell. Most of them in my marina have a similar issue.

Brian I don't suppose you have the measurements of that seat do ya? I'd like to try and build one. As for the storage areas, unsure what happened before I owned her, but they have remained high and dry so far.

If you want to build the seat that turns into a sun pad I can provide photos and measurements for that.

That would be fantastic! You have no idea how much I would appreciate that. If you want to go straight to my email let me know, otherwise I'm sure there are others with the same delimma. Thanks again!

Finally got home before dark.
I tried to include the table dimensions as well. You can see the molded ledges on the forward seat and the bench. The table actually has a short leg that supports the weight, so I'd say the ledge isn't strictly necessary.
Hope this helps.

Thank you so much sir. I will work on this starting next week! I really appreciate you taking time out to do this. What is the length of the short leg?
