Mid-90's 270 Sundancer Thread

For the record... Rusty and friends helped me locate my cabin light breaker. Nowhere in my documentation could I find the cabin light breaker or fuse. My cabin lights are on the cockpit and bilge light circuit breaker from the helm. The power is connected from the cockpit and bilge light helm switches by a pair of blue wires that that connect together in a shrink tube to a larger blue wire (10ga). After the shrink tube it connects into a plastic connector and the same wire type completes the run to the cabin. The wires are not tightly held and vibration caused the pin in the connector to break. I just by passed it with a butt connector but is was fun trying to find it.

[h=2]Hi. I'm a new owner of a 1998 270SE. I was wondering if anyone has replaced the fluorescent light in the galley with LEDs or if you have replaced the plastic adjustable reading lights and/or their bulbs with LEDs.[/h]

Hi.
I replaced my halogen reading lamp bulbs with led units from marinebeam.com. I also replaced all navigation light bulbs, "dome" lights, bilge lights, etc., with led units from same supplier. They have very good quality products.
I did not replace the galley bulbs, but they do offer a led unit.

Hi, as a long time boater but relatively newcomer to Sea Rays, (1996 270 DA) I have found this thread to be very informative and helpful. One of the projects I want to tackle this winter is replacing the alcohol/electric stove with a new electric only cook top. Has anyone done this? I am having trouble finding information on the size of the A/C circuit breakers without opening up the panel. Also, if I have to install a new higher amp circuit breaker is there a supplier whose product will work in the old panel? I am hoping to avoid having to upgrade the entire panel. Thanks for your help.

Does yours not function on electric?

Spring Honey-Do list is done and the Mahna Mahna is back in the water for another season. Sometimes I am not sure which is more daunting, the Honey-Do list around the house or the Honey-Do list in order the get the boat prepped and in the water. Last year was our first in the water with this boat, and my first with a sports cruiser. I learned many a things, and a few things I didn't really want to learn. Like what it takes to replace a fly-wheel missing teeth. Or what happens when something foreign becomes lodged in the pump house of the vacu-flush. But regardless, we made it through last season and hopefully the work done this spring helps prepare us for another season on the water.

Honey-Do List:
Bottom Paint - Check
Oil Change - Check
New Plugs, Cap and Button - Check
New House Batteries - Check
New Zincs, Sand and Paint Outdrive - Check
New Cockpit and Navigation Lights (went clear white LED and added a new courtesy as well) - Check
New underwater lights - Check (Installed a 900 Lumen boat plug light - blue)
New Snaps on the Cover - Check
Replace AC Converter - This was not on the original list, but found the original was blown when we took the cover off to start spring cleaning. - Check
Apply new stickers for boat name, port and registration - check
Wash and Wax - Check

Whew... And we are in the water.

Now, maybe I can get stuff done around the house... :)

Just picked up a nice 1994 270. Really looking forward to getting back into boating. It's been about 13 years since I had my first one. Lots of good info on this thread, thanks to all for sharing, I already have a few things on my checklist to look out for and replace / upgrade.
Happy I found this site.

Looking. Does anyone here know of a 270 that might be for sale with these specs? 1994-1999 8' - 6" beam models with heat /ac, generator (so 96 + factory unit or professional installation to an earlier boat) 7.4, BII or III, earth tones in trim colors, camper canvas, trailer (or priced right w/o trailer) vacuflush head, great condition. Thanks. I've been looking all over BoatTrader, Powerboat Trader and reading here but not found the right one yet. Bill

Thanks duckman. Great looking boat, has everything, but is a wide body and a little over my truck's capacity. I've been looking at those however, thinking I could always trade in my truck. Then as long as I'm upgrading, I could get a bigger truck, then I've pretty well cycled myself into justifying a used semi, lowboy trailer and a 500. :) So I need to be careful of the mission creep.

That's the crossroad I'm at right now . My 270 is really all my truck needs or wants really. We don't travel with boat . So truck only pulls twice a year dip and pull. If I buy a bigger boat don't need a big truck. If we keep boat like to travel a few lakes.

Did you mean earth tones upholstery colors? If so they are only available 1997 and newer. Then the 1998 & 1999 were stripped down and didn't offer many of the features that the 1997 model offered. You are asking for my boat!!! I'm not selling, sorry.
