Just broke the cradle that holds the mic for my Ray 215. Raymarine shows the item as out of stock. Other on line stores I've checked show out of stock or sold out. Any suggestions where I might fine one???
Thanks
Bob

Are you talking about the mount where you hang up the mic??.
Like this one ??.

Not exactly like that, but yes This mike has the distress button on the back so I'm not sure velcro is an option. It's more of a curved piece of plastic that holds the mike to the dashboard. I'm on the boat now but don't have a camera with me for photo's.

I can send you one like this. It shouldn't touch that distress button. :smt001

Thanks Wayne but I don't have a clip on the back side of the mic. I checked with a Raymarine dealer yesterday and he said "good luck finding that part" and suggested I buy a new radio!! I'll send a picture of what I'm talking about when I get home. I may be able to use the velcro after all. I belive I can put it under the Distress lift on the back of the mic.

Hey Wayne. Here's a photo of what I'm looking for.

Haven't heard back from Raymarine yet. doubt that I will. I checked their newer radios and they have their mounts (or hangers) listed as out of stock.

Yea, they're out of stock because ours is an older model. I guess maybe craig's list or something else. Sounds like a bummer.

The Velcro actually is an improvement over the crappy design of the mic. I think almost every one I have seen is broken or getting ready to break. Go to Wally Mart and get some white...or black industrial stuff.

Agreed. And I no longer knock it off the holder now that its velcroed. Just having trouble keeping the velcro sticking to the handset when it gets real hot with the camper top up.

I have the same unit and my wire was falling apart. I called Raymarine and they told me that b/c it's discontinued unit they're out of stock and suggested to check local stores to see if they have some left overs. I called new local WM (large store) and very nice guy there told me that they do a lot of business with Raymarine and he'll get in touch with the Raymarine rep and see if he can do something. About a week or so later and $47 I got brabd new wire.

So, my advice if you can't find it in any other stores try finding big WM store and see if they can help you.

Let us know how it works out.

Good luck.

I have the same radio. I hate that stupid mic holder. Whenever I reach down to pull the mic out, I grab it by the only part that sticks out of the holder - the transmit button. If I try to pop it out pf the holder without keying the mic, I drop it on the floor. At least the microphone is pretty tough. Mine's been bounced at least 50 times. I'm sure it can't take many more...

Ray Marine just emailed back. Her reply was "Unfortunately, this part is no longer available. None of the microphone cradles for other radios will accommodate the Ray215's microphone. As such, the only recourse would be to have a bracket custom fabricated".

Looks like I'll be using Velcro (or maybe super glue) until I need to buy a new radio. If I can find another brand that will "talk" to the Raymarine GPS for the distress function, it WON'T be a Raymarine! I also believe when I update the C80, it just might be a Garmin.

Thanks for your input guys!

Capt Bob, I am having some trouble with my 215, but the mic holder is still ok. When I decide on it's replacement and install it I'll give you the mic holder if you still need one.

Sounds good....Thanks Woody

looks like toothless dentures mabey you can have an art class to see who can make a better one !LOL I say teak!

I spoke to Raymarine and the part is no longer manufactured and is out of stock due to that reason. There are no plans to make that part any longer.

I'm going the route of velcro. My coiled cord is wrecked too and I'm fearing I won't be able to even find that as a replacement.

Bob,
I had similar response from RM, but as I mentioned, thanks to the WM support I still was able to get the part RM claimed is no longer available. So, it's still worth a shot to find reputable retailer who does lots of business with RM and they'll help you as WM did to me.
