I was given a "Working" Loran unit complete with coupler and antenna.
I have the "Owners manual", and it states that it has NEMA output.
Manual does NOT show which wires (there are 6) are used for the output.
Red and Black are for power, and the others are taped back .
Hoping someone has one or knows the pinouts for this unit.

ANY help will be appreciated.

Don't know the specifics for the unit, but there's only two wires you're looking for, a NMEA (+) and NMEA (-). They're typically a very small gauge, black is usually the NMEA ground, with the (+) being a different color, no standard exists. Usually it's a yellow or orange wire...

You have four wires "left"- what are their colors, and approx. gauges?

The SIX wire colors are: Red,Black,Yellow,Gray,White, and Green.
Red and Black are used for Power at the moment, But I can see where the ground(black) could be shared. They are all about 18 or 20 ga.

Thanks for your reply

Yeah, I know it's not worth the time to even install it, but at least this unit has Lat and Long. read out, and I just wanted to see if it would transfer data to my DSC radio.

Puzzling, can't see the need for the additional wires; I didn't think they could accept any data input.

The NMEA sentences are output in a very low, fluctuating voltage. Take a multimeter (turn the unit on and allow it to acquire a fix) and see if you read a pulsing DC voltage. I would start by yellow or white to (+), and gray/green to neg. Try different combinations until you get a reading on the multimeter. Then connect to the appropriate (+) (-) NMEA input wires on your VHF. Check the VHF to see if it displays your lat/long. Keep in mind that Lorans work by radio transmission TD's- and use an algorithm to ESTIMATE lat/long. It is often not very accurate in these conversions. And, I'm not even sure that a loran will output the NMEA sentences for lat/long...

Even though I have a full array of the most modern electronics, I still installed a Ross loran. I have a bunch of fishing spots from the "old days" that are in TD's, and that's still the only way to get to them (like I said, the conversions are inaccurate). Great backup as well...

Thanks for the help. I will get out my meter and check out those wires.
I will post my results.
I read that Loran C is being run till the end of this year. And UNSURE if Obama will fund it as a backup for GPS anymore after that. We will have to wait and see.
