The other day I hit a hard wave and the micro wave door opened and the glass tray came flying out and shattered on the counter. Has anyone come up with a nice way to add another latch to the door so this will not happen again? I was thinking of somehow adding a velcro strap but want it to look good. Thanks

Don't you have a cabinet door with a lock knob where the microwave is stored?

Yes, the stick on heavy-duty Velcro is probably the way to go. I actually have Velcro on my microwave, but it is used for another purpose. You can get it in white, if the microwave is white. Home Depot has the heavy duty stuff. You only need a small piece, maybe 1" wide, if you use the heavy-duty stuff.

Forgot, there is a step 3.

Curse the idiots who built the microwave for not putting a secure latch on the door, and curse Sea Ray for selecting appliances that have no business being in a moving vessel.

You are correct. The oven which is just a standard unit was not made to be put on a moving vehicle.

I have the eact same problem on my boat.

I do the same thing as sfergson727 after I replaced a few of them.

firecadet613, Thanks for the link !!, I just ordered one.

Whats odd is I have a standard Kenmore microwave in my boat, and I have not had this issue. What brand Microwave is it?

I just replaced my microwave. when I pulled it out the label on the back of the unit read "Not to be installed in enclosed space". Gee I wonder if that contributed to the early failure or could it be the way that they drill holes in the bottom for the mounting screws. I'm sure that all those metal shavings floating around in there couldn't hurt either.
