Hi,

Well we started off getting ants, and now we have a mouse. One I hope! I guess they come on board by way of the tie downs. Any suggestions after we catch that little mouse? How to keep them off the boat??

Thanks

Did you ever see those circular devices you put on the lines? They look like dinner plates.

There is no such thing as one mouse!

Have you tried the ol' cheese on the neighbor's boat approach?

I use the sticky traps...they work well and you can toss the whole thing away. Best part is they can't crawl in a hole and die, thus stinking to high heavens.

Thanks! The glue traps sound the best. Our service guy found two nest down by the engines which he removed. Guess we aquired the mice when we purchased this boat!

Hopefully the nest wasn't made out of wire insulation.

What dide you do to get rid of the ants and what kind were they?

Many ants are attracted to different methods...I have had luck with Terro. They eat, drink... and die...thier friends carry them back to the nest, eat them and die too.

We've found Carpenter Ants in two different areas of the boat. Both times 50-60 ants. I sprayed 'em. One group under the engine hatch and the other in the compartment with the battery switch. I had the bug guy who does the house put some gel down and haven't seen any since but I know they can be quite damaging and am wondering what they could be chowing down on in the boat.

Hubby just used a can of Raid! Knowing him, it was the whole can. I haven't been back on the boat since the mice and ants. Sure hope he cleaned up the mess.
