Miami Boat Show? Worth the trip?

Sure hoping everyone comes to see us this year. As Matt said in a previous post, the venue is set to change big time next year so if you are considering coming...this is the time !

We will be at the Collins Ave location on South Beach with all the new big boys...650FLY, 650 Express, 590FLY, 590 Express and many, many more newer models. You very well may see and meet Mr. Tim Schiek (President) and Matt (searaycorporate) but those guys have lots of commitments at all the locations so if you do happen to miss them, I will personally relay your intentions to shake hands with both of them.

Thanks Sea Ray Owners! Thank you very much!!!

I wish was going to be there... Would encourage anyone who is on the fence. Great show.

Hey Rusty, I'll be in Miami on the 12th and 13th and plan on stopping by the Collins Ave displays. Went two years ago, but didn't make it to that part - just drove by slowly and drooled… If you're around I'll be sure to introduce myself!

Jim & John.....you come and I will personally walk to the end of the line (if there is one) and find you. If you don't see me, ask some one or anyone with a Sea Ray shirt on and again, I will come to you wherever you are.

PM me if you need more particulars.

Rusty

Won't be living on Tulsa time next week boss, sorry!

But am a big fan of the 330EC which was built in the Merritt Island plant during my tenure there...translated, I have stood in or have driven your boat

Rusty

Capt. Rusty....did you just deliver a 650fly to Grand Lake in Oklahoma? I understand it came by water to Muskogee and then trucked to Grand.

Jeff...I did the delivery over here on the East Coast of FLA but then handed her off to the selling dealership and their captains. I talked with one of those guys as he was navigating through New Orleans and heading up to the Arkansas...(nope, haven't made that trip before). I have been through the locks around New Orleans and we discussed that difficulty with the on your toes approach it requires.

I’m in the office this morning but leaving in a few minutes, for the Miami Show this weekend. I just returned from delivering the 650FLY to South Beach and following me were the 650 Express and the 590 Express. The 590FLY is there as well. Sure am hoping you guys take Matt up on his offer to attend all of our activities and certainly look forward to seeing you on our dock at Collins Ave.

Bring camera, nice boats!

Capt. Rusty,

Planning on being at the show on Thursday and hope to be at the SR event that evening. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Back from the show......answer to question. Yes, it was worth the trip. There is so much to look at and do, everything can't be done in a weekend. I went on a demo ride, talked boats with people that know boats! Some of the smaller shows hire sales people with good intentions, but short on knowledge really.

I found a boat I could get excited about also.
Jeanneau, Mary Fisher 855.
Exactly the boat I've been describing, outboard power, 28ft, the big three options, a/c, generator, windlass. Trailerable. Wait for it......$139,000.00
Look it up, it's nice

I just checked out the Merry Fisher 855.

Pretty cool layout, but I wonder how hot it would get in there with the hardtop and only having the skylights and side door open while running as I don't see any A/C or genny options.

It has a/c, 16000btu a/c. The generator will become an option soon. The fuel tank is getting split and the gen dropped in between. The back wall is a sliding glass wall. The whole thing slides open. There is aslo a sliding window on the port side. The cabin is pretty aired out when everything is opened up.

Jeanneaus web site is not user friendly, and doesn't give very good information. The dealer network is very small too. Benetteau must be a sister company, the two have similar designs. The Barracuda 9 and Anteres 8.8 is very similar to the Jeanneaus designs.

What did you demo?

I went for a ride on a 29 Ranger Tug. I really like the Tugs. They are expensive though. The one at the show was priced at $260,000.00. It did have every option in the book and thern some but at that price point it is on the long list.
The ride was very good. Biscane Bay was pretty choppy, the wind was blowing pretty hard and the 40' centerconsoles running around had a chop on top of the chop. One CC blew by us real close abeam, the spray off the hull splashed us, and they were probably running 80mph!, you could hear the subwoofers bumping. haha They wonder why folks are not happy with them.

A friend bought a Cutwater - same company as ranger tugs - very similar. Designed to be a trailer-able cruiser. He loves it. Ton of options included in the boat.

There is an interesting blog on the BoatUS forums (hope it was ok to mention that site). A couple has one and the tow/launch/cruise for a bit - then repeat - all over the country.

Not exactly my cup of tea - but very interesting if the boat fits you.

Since we are on the Miami boat show thread - my 2 cents worth. This is my favorite show - I like it more than Fort Lauderdale. This year it was the choice between mid Feb boat show - or early March spending a couple of weeks cruising... Guess which one won out? Couldn't do both - still have to work some...

The difference between the Cutwater and Ranger is the hull configuration. The Cutwater is full planning hull verses the Ranger being displacement with hard chines and full keel. The interiors are very similar though.
