The Admiral and I are considering going to the Miami Boat Show in 2017. I'd love advice on where to stay, how to get around (with the split locations), etc. This will be my first major show experience.

Thanks!

I went several years ago and stayed at a Marriott that was a couple of miles from the land based site. The hotel van took me there and would pick me up when I called them at night and told them where I was.

There is transportation (bus) system that runs constantly between both sites so getting around is easy, but slow.

I would plan on spending several days there. I hustled through the inside show and spent two full days there. The on-the-water part of the show is impossible to see in less than a couple of days if you really want to see a lot of different boats.

And Have FUN!

A group of us went this year (2016) and stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay. We used the water taxi to get to the 'small' boat show which was at least a 1 hour ordeal each way. The water taxi was short, maybe 10 minutes each way, it was the waiting for it that was bad. I also heard that going by shuttle or car was just as bad due to traffic. They claimed that next year they would have more water taxis running. Water Taxi was available right at the Hotel, albeit a 100yd walk to the pickup point.

For getting to the 'big' boat show on the island, we took uber. If I were to do it again (and I will) I'd spend more time at the big boat show than the little boat show...although we did get to take a 38' Beneteau out for a test ride from the little boat show. Hanging out on the beach was a treat as well and there are plenty of foo-foo places to eat out on the island (but not at the big boat show itself.) The little boat show had plenty to eat and drink.

Wear comfortable walking shoes and enjoy.

Seattle we do in 2 days and see every thing and manage to eat at real restaurants. I went last year and stayed at a Ramada at the airport for 55 a night. Seattle has a train that takes you from the airport to the down town portion of the show and a free shuttle bus takes you to the floating portion of the show.
Always wanted to go to Miami show but it seems hard to get rooms if you do not book long in advance.
