Just got my daughter an LG Motion 4G. Simple porting of the number from Verizon to MetroPCS in the store. Took about 10 minutes, guy was very nice. Get it home, NO SERVICE. Upstairs, downstairs. Didn't try walking outside but it's pretty clear this thing has to go back. 7 day return policy. Anyone else have any issues like this with a carrier?
 
Metro PCS does not have the best coverage here in Tampa/St. Pete.
 
I'd take a look at their published coverage maps and see how they align with your locations. Every area has a carrier with good coverage and one with not so good coverage. There could also be an issue with the phone. It would be interesting to do a side by side with another phone from the same carrier. As an example, Samsung recently came out with the Galaxy S3 and had a boatload with poor reception issues. Definitely make your voice heard with tech support or at the store, in writing, so you have a record of your displeasure.
 
The coverage map of NJ looks real good. I get crappy service at my house even with Verizon. Had to return a Sprint phone about 10 years ago for the same reason. Sprint was ineffectual in my house. I think I'm in a hole.

They have a 7 day return policy. Most likely what I'm going to have to do.
