Meteor Shower Tonight!

I was up, on the boat, last night until 0400. I saw the most spectacular shooting star I've seen in my entire life. It started almost directly above me and appeared to descend toward the horizon in front of me. As it slowed, it broke up into a wide streak of green light. I was facing S-SW. Not sure if it's related.

They're saying anytime next 2 nites for leonids, out of Leo in the Northeast sky. Best viewing they're saying is from 2-4 am.... ugh.

I was out walking a couple miles earlier, and the sky is very dark, with the new moon, I could see the milky way very clearly.

Thanks for the direction. I went to that website and couldn't figure out, other than toward Leo, which way to look. The only constellations I can ever find are the Big Dipper and the Hot Virgin. If it's not part of the Big Dipper, it looks like a Hot Virgin to me - just like clouds.

I have seen many, but like you...only one very amazing one! Driving home from work one night. Almost there and in that daydreaming mode. It was so huge(I guess so close) that it was like a fireball with a tail. Red, not white. Startled me so bad because I thought something was falling onto the highway. I took my foot off the gas and the truck in front of me hit the brakes! I laughed when I realized what it was. Then made a wish. One month later, it came true. I met my husband! :smt038

We won't be able to see the sky until late March so we're out.

Side note: Sweet Dreams? Why are so many of your posts popping up with no message in them?
