i was watching TV yesterday when this infomercial came on with a product called 'magic mesh'....in concept it is pretty ingenious....the mesh is attached to the door frame with velcro...it has a slit down the center and has a series of magnets located on both edges of the slit opening....when you walk through the mesh the magnets separate...as you pass through the opening gravity returns the mesh to the straight down positon and the magnets attract each other and seal the opening...i have been thinking of a simple way to install some insect mesh over the cabin door on my boat when we camp to keep the insects out...i want it to be easy to install and remove and also allow for easy access in and out of the cabin.... this 'magic mesh' looks like it can be modified to work for this purpose...i don't normally take these infomercials too seriously but this one intrigued me....i have ordered the mesh and will include this in the list of 'winter projects' for my boat...i have attached a link to the website that gives more info and a demo video if anyone is interested....if it works out i'll post a follow-up...

Cousin Ed with the metal plate in his head got one of them and every time he walked thru is he'd piss his pants and forget who he was for 20 minutes.
Sorry I couldn't resist. Seriously though I wouldn't mind having one of those as the back wall of my camper top zipping and unzipping every time you pass thru is to keep the bugs out is a pita.

yea, i was thinking that it could also work with camper canvas or possibly on boats with a bridge...

Pretty sweat idea... wonder what type of magnets are used some will rust depending on there makeup?

if the magnet material is prone to rusting you should be able to paint on a protective coating of some sort such as 'clear' paint used to protect car/truck wheels....
