Mercury Marine looses $13.4 billion in third quarter

If Congress was involved with Mercury Marine it would be Billion

They need to diversify. Building boats and billiard tables in this economy is not the business to be in. Train cars? Mobile homes? Porta Potties? Windmills? Where's the money?

If I could just figure out a market for barnacles, I would be rich....

I wouldn't ride on a Mercury "Marine" train car or get within 10 miles of a Mercury "Marine" windmill. I really doubt they could even engineer a porta potty that worked properly and didn't corrode when someone did something foolish like pee into it.

Best regards,
Frank

Uhhh...that's Million, not Billion.

I probably make more typo’s than anyone here so I can’t give Dave too hard of a time.

Dave, you did bring a smile to my face on what is an otherwise crappy day. Thank you!

It would be interesting to see a breakdown on Brunswicks boat sales $$ compared to size(length) of units sold. As far as the 33% you guys are questioning I don’t think you can do that and have it mean anything. Remember the Merc and Brunswick numbers referenced were declines in sales $$ not engine, outdrive and boat units. Among Brunswicks many boat brands a lot of models don’t use Merc equipment to start with.
