I'm going to guess that a lot of you guys knew this, but this morning I got a quick lesson on the High Performance LT 5 engine used in about 7000 Corvettes made from 1990 through 1995. Designed buy some Lotus guys & produced by Mercury Marine. Apparently all under the GM umbrella at the time.

Like I said, this may be common knowledge to some of you, New & interesting to me so I thought I'd share it. As always Wikipedia has a ton of information on the engine & car(s) it went in to.

I remember thoseThe early ones had a Very short life expectancy, something around a couple of thousand miles before they blew up. I assume they figured out the problem in the later ones.

I beleive they were the engines for the ZR-1 Corvette's back in that era.

my malibu is a '00, and I just happen to have the original book that lists all the options. I have the upgraded Indmar Monsoon II engine (325 hp). the corvette boat that year is listed as "based on the C5 corvette, including a Callaway 383 Natural 400 HP". I have seen a couple, all low hours. no one ever really uses them.

Thats what I saw it in. I'm no Corvette buff but I did notice that the whole car was different than most. The owner told me a ton of the history & insisted I sit in it. Unreal. As for the engine, he knew waaaaaay too much for me to do anything but listen. So I did a little web surfing then posted it here.
