I have just acquired a 1988 265 Sedan Bridge with twin 205's. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the electronic shift boxes located in the engine bay. It looks like the boxes receive a signal when the shift levers are engaged which triggers an electric motor shift into gear. It just looks like electric wires into the shift box and then the standard lower shift cable coming out of the box going to the outdrives. First, this looks like a bad system. Second, does anyone know if they still make parts for it?. Third, can this thing be bypassed to convert it into a standard cable shift assembly? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
