Can someone please measure for me?
I'm looking for measurements of mercury 3.5 and 4 hp outboards.
I can't find it anywhere online...
Before I buy I want to make sure it will fit in compartment.
Thanks

I have an older (1994) two stroke but I will assume you are looking for a newer four stroke. Let me know if you want pics and dim for a 3.5 hp Nissan (basically the same as merc.) mine fits in a Tupperware container under my stern seat.
Here are pics of 4 hp and 3.5 hp two strokes - I downsized 1/2 hp and almost half the weight.

I have a 3.5 merc.

I am at work but will measure tomorrow and advise.

I'm a little confused by your post. Are you looking for 2.5 to 3.5hp unit dimensions? Or, are you looking for 4 to 6hp dimensions?

If it is the latter, the following are the dimensions of my 2010 6hp Four Stroke with remote fuel tank:

41" (tiller down) from top of housing to bottom of skeg
44" Tiller up

27.5" (tiller down) tip of tiller to back of housing
21" tiller up from back of housing to front of clamps.

Just a heads up, these outboards are simply problematic when it comes to carb issues. I haven't made it through a single season without having to take the carb apart to fix an idle problem. The tiller vibration is also an issue. My friend with a 6hp Mercury two stroke just laughs when he sees me taking it apart. I had the same problem with my Honda BF2. It just seems that getting fuel to flow consistently through such a small jet port is a serious problem for small four stroke engines.

4 strokes also need to be stored upright. Laying them down I was told is no good.

I was looking for 3.5 hp and also 4 hp measurements
Thanks to everyone who has posted ... Keep them coming.
I want to see what I can store on my 07' 310 for my new 240 airfloor mercury dinghy.
The 3.5 seems right for size, weight, etc.
The 4 is nice for the reverse gear but 20 pounds trumps the added .5 HP.... So I think if your going bigger than 3.5 you might as well go to 6 to make up for the added weight/size.
Thoughts?

Here is my 2008 3.5 mercury. You can lay them on their side. Always turn off fuel line and let carb run dry for any storage longer than a day or two.

Don't rule out the propane power units from Lehr. No carb issues, no winterization, no ethenol problems and they can be laid on their side. A friend of mine on here has one and I'm planning to pick one up this year as well.

Thanks so much that is a great measurement photo!
Now I think I might go 2 stroke... To save on weight...and maintenance Anyone know if they still sell any new 2 stroke? If not what was the last year for merc or Yamaha any major manufacturer. Thanks everyone .... Winter makes me overthink stuff ha

i bit the bullet and bought a 1999 5HP 2 stroke mercury today. does anyone have the owners manual or know where i can download it?
i believe this will be the best for the dinghy… plus the wife wanted gears…. at 47lbs it seems to be the best compromise. thanks everyone.
