Mercruiser has just released a multi-engine gateway (part number 8M0065208) that allows Smartcraft enabled engines to talk to NMEA instruments. We are installing one in the next couple of days. If it works as they say, I will be able to get all that cool Smartcraft data on my Raymarine e127 display.

We'll see how it goes.

That great news. What did the cost end up being for it? I cant find any documentation for it anywhere on the web. Is this essentially just a "gateway only" version of the MercMonitor?

Good luck with the installation, Rick. The next thing you'll need is a room for another display so you can see everything at the same time......LOL.

Not bad. Only took Merc almost a decade to market a gateway. I hope they debugged it!

You are right. Wait until I add the Fusion 700 and pull it up on the e127. Too many buttons to push.

Thanks for letting us know about this Rick. I just called my Merc source and it sounds like they can get it for about $430 which is quite a bit cheaper than a twin Merc Monitor setup I was looking at before. I guess it performs all functions of the MercMonitor except for, I suppose, the ECO Gauge Function. This mod is now on the top of my list. Strange thing is that I see no mention of this anywhere else or even on Mercury's website. I still don't get the way that company operates sometimes.

I have been waiting on this for awhile. It was either the Maretron units or wait on this one. We install at 9:00am tomorrrow. I should know shortly after that.

if you find the manual online :) let me know. :)

I was considering putting in a Level 3 MM in my new 310DA (I put a level 2 MM in my old 210 Select) - new owner loves it.

I just recieved the MM form the US (cheaper than europe :)....but only a gateway is for a lot of people enough.
My speedo has a lot of scrathes you I needed a meter also. Keep us posted :)

That kind of made me laugh a bit, I've put a lot of cool gadgets in boats the new owners loved as well lol.

It would be pretty cool if they made a gateway for a single engine that cost a couple hundred bucks, 430 for the dual is a decent deal compared to the MM.

I actually offered to take the GPS and the MM out and give him a lower price. But absolutely NO was the answer :)

Well, not enough cables and junction boxes to hook it up. The Raymarine e127 saw the Mercruiser gateway so all I have to do it get the Mercruiser engines to see the Mercruiser gateway. Go figure...

Hopefully you have this sorted out by Labor day weekend. I'm really interested in doing this myself. Good luck!

Any updates, Rick?

Inquiring minds want to know....

I am planning on adding either a Mercmonitor, vessel view display, or this gateway over the winter, to get engine data up to my Simrad (NMEA 2000) Display. Hopefully it is working out for you....

After looking around in the Mercrusier dealer manual, I gave up and called Mercruiser Customer Support and got to speake with two VERY helpful folks, Tina and Todd. After explaining what I was trying to do, Todd (Smartcraft guy) drew me this picture of what to buy in order to get engine data on my e127. I bought all the parts, plugged them in and, lo and behold, I have engine data on the e127.

Don't know that it matters, but, I'll throw it out there. These 2009 engines are some of the last 8.1L out of the factory before they switched to the 8.2L. Your mileage may vary, but, I think this may work for most everyone.

Note the part numbers and the need for engine cables with the resistor built in. The "xx" in the part number is a two digit number indicating length of cable. If you want a 6' cable put 06 in place of the "xx". A 10' cable is a 10, etc.

You have to purchase the multi-engine gateway Mercrusier part number 8M0065208. And whatever Vendor cable gets the canbus stuff hooked to your electronics package (I had the local Raymarine guy do that one).

Well, that's too small to see. Let me see what I can do about getting a bigger one.

This is what I got for my Raymarine e120.. from the mercury people when I called. Doesn't look anything like yours.. I have 2 350 MAG MPI Horizon's. Mid-2006 models, I believe. Basically I need this: http://www.veradoclubparts.com/product_p/84-8m0065208.htm

then after I get that, I have to get this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Raymarine-S...799?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac04991af

then, this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Raymarine-A...512?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d35c551d0

and finally, this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Raymarine-D...274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d090dec9a

Apparently, other than the J-boxes, that's all I need. Thoughts anyone?
