I have twin 4.3L MPI Bravo III. Just got it. According to dealer that sold it to me (not a Sea Ray dealer) it has a factory installed flush system. Each engine has a pipe sticking up about even with the top of the motor. Pipe is covered by a blue cap with a tether so you don't lose it. Looks like I need a special adapter to fit on a hose. I have asked three mercruiser dealers and they didnt know what attachment i need, I contacted mercruiser and they sent me a parts diagram that doesn't look anything like i have.
Ive also had one person tell me i have to run the engines while flushing and another one said not to run the engines. Im at a loss.
this is a 2008 280 DA.
Anyone know this system from my attempt at a description!!

Pictures tell 1000 words. Can you post a picture of it?

good idea ill try to figure it out when i get home and take a picture.

What you are describing sounds like the standard flush fitting on the Volvo Penta engines. Is it possible the previous owner added it?

We have this on our formula and I am putting one on the searay this winter. Yes an adaptor is required any mercruser dealer should have it.

here are a couple pictures if i did this right. i do see the unit says to have engine running--so much for one of the dealers! is there someplace to get the quick connect .

Hook up hose turn water on start motor let run to flush turn motor off then turn hose off

It dumps water directly into the sea water pump

Double check your instructions. I suspect that if a valve is open and you turn the water on before the engine is running, you might have the potential to hydrolock the engine depending on where the flush water is hooked up.

I don't know that this could happen, but you ought to check to be safe.

Mine goes directly into the hose running the seawater pump. No valves. Never had a problem in 6 years.

I have also received instrutions to run the water with the engine on and off! Can you share how long to run the engines with the fresh water on to be effective? Thanks

Just to close the loop for the future---the part that connects the hose to the flush is a quick connect number 22-861405. Its about $50.To put the quick connect in the flush female connector and take it out there is a slide lock on the flush that has to be pushed in.
On mine no valves to open or close. As someone below said, turn water on, start engine , flush, turn engine off , turn water off. I flush after I come in so engines are already warm and it doesnt take long. If engines are cold maybe ten minutes.
