So I am seeing 4 footers (15-20 kt North winds) forecast for this Friday on the western end of Lake Erie. I was planning on heading to Cedar Point from Catawba Island but am second guessing. Am I being a pansy or are others planning on staying dockside as well?

With the winds out of the north, South Bass Island will largely protect the waters between Catawba, Kellys, and Marblehead. I'm sure it might be a little unpleasant at times but you will be largely in following seas. Another thing to consider is the winds when docking at CP Marina. I think the winds are supposed to lay down over the weekend, so coming back shouldn't be as bad.

Discretion is the better part of valor right? No need to be out in the heavy stuff on a pleasure cruise.

I’ve been out in some rough stuff (Ocean ride home from New York) and it is no fun, and no one will call you a “pansy” for saying "I’ll wait it out".

Yeah, that is why I am leaning towards going. Once I am there, coming back should be no problem. Who knows... With NOAA you can never trust the forecast more than a few hours ahead of time!

Saw a quote a while ago..."There are old sailors and there are bold sailors, but there are no old, bold sailors." Only travel in what you and your passengers are comfortable with. That said, The forecast conditions I looked at didn't look too terrible until you got to the central basin of the lake and improved through the weekend. Even then, planning based on a long range forecast will steer you wrong as many times as not. I'd give it until at least Thursday before I made a final decision. Have a great weekend. CP sounds like a great destination. America's Roller Coast!

Good words to live by, Play Dough. I agree that it is worse the farther east you go... Looking forward to the official kick off of summer! Everyone have a great weekend and enjoy the water!

Play dough what are you doing this weekend in ludington, were thinking bout coming up from Whitehall to visit mike and Donna we always stat on the wall slip 11

Can you postpone departure until Saturday? We are set to head from Sandusky Bay over to PIB Saturday morning. Maybe we'll cross paths?

That's an option but it screws up the rest of
our weekend. We are planning to stay at CP for just one night and head back to CIC on Saturday for a party. Safe travels!

We'll be around. Not sure yet about the condition of the boat, it needs a carburetor rebuild and that process is ocurring between now and Friday...maybe. It's possible that all my boating will be limited to the inflatable. I'll tell Mike to get the green and white flag ready for your arrival.

Planning on going to the" Bay" on Friday morning. I saw 5 to 7's in the forecast. Might wait the 7's out. Coming out of Son Rise, Sandusky Bay. The channel of Sandusky Bay is always rough. When are we going to get some warm weather? Soon I hope.

Play dough , we always have the last laugh when it comes to mike and mi state.... Ask him about his door magnet on his mustang GT. thought about hangin blue and gold lights from his railing soon. Lololol go blue.

Boltman ,first change his burgee and see how long it takes him to notice. Its always difficult to turn a spartan from green to blue and gold.Makes no sense to me.

Weekend weather looks like it is going to stink or wear snowmobile suit.

Olds...... I know I don't get it, they have nothing going for them and yet they're still loyal . I'm thinking rope light on his bow rail, or go blue on his transom he'll never look there ....

Of course if you relly want to get him, drop a few of your extrs bolts and a washer or two in his bilge where he will see them. That will keep him busy while you prank the spartan out of him.

I think I made the right move coming to FL...sorry Great Laker's. ;) Hey, at least the water levels are recovering there!! My old dock neighbors are in the water now and just a few months ago weren't sure if they'd even be able to launch this year!!!!
