Memorial Weekend 2021 - A Bust in Erie

So here is a new one....my marina just called and said they are closed due to the storm. I get it flooded is flooded but if I can walk in shouldn't I have that right ?

If you get a chance check that video link I posted earlier that motoryacht is struggling... he has anchor out and the dock is floating away

Wow, that is crazy to watch!

Water up over 20” today with the wind surge

Doesn't look like the wind is going to let up until Sat afternoon. That guy was out on his bow trying to do something with his boathook...had it extended out, reaching down, looks like he could use some help.

He is in the most exposed spot in the bay.... just beside him and up into the public docks he could be protected by a cement pier.... he has been there since Thursday morning...there was a lot of warning this NE wind was coming. Not sure why he didn’t move

I have to be the smart a** for the minute, think of all the new to boating lives that might be saved because they can’t go out.

Or how many that will be lost when they try anyway

I guess it’s a double edge sword

Not having been there, I'm trying to understand where he is. On Google Maps, is he at the docks behind what is marked as Park Place Boat Club?

He is on the PIB yacht club dock in between Crews Nest and Miller’s

That system is pushing through West Michigan now. Here is a pic of how we spent the afternoon reading. 40s for temps, gale on Lake Michigan. Sun is starting to come out now.

Yesterday was 65F cool and pleasant, woke up to 50F and rain, and during the day it dropped to 39F at one point. Looked out and the pool was steaming away like a pot of pasta. There was slight snow in some spots north of Toronto. Crazy. Those Lake Erie forecasts look like November not the beginning of June.

@Blueone I just saw this on the book of faces.

Checking on my boat on camera, we're up about 8" on Lake Michigan.

Meanwhile at the other end of the big bathtub known as Lake Erie, we were down about 2 to 3 feet earlier today. Winds will be ENE or NE for next 24 hours but not as gusty as the past 18 hours. Water appears to be on the way up now, hopefully the worst is over with.
