Memorial Day Weekend Weather

Great weather in Eastern Iowa Friday through Sunday night. The wind picked up out of the North at about 12-17 mph about 7PM Sunday night. Got to listen to the water slapping on the hull all night. I slept great. Wife needed a nap when we got home.

Boat ran great. No problems until it was time to put Nut & Honey away: the left front wheels of the forklift found a soft spot in the parking lot when they were putting her back on the cradle!!! They almost lost her. The only damage was to the back of the swim platform. Ended up with a damaged rub rail and about a 3" crack on the back of the platform. They promised to have it repaired by the coming weekend.

Went to visit friends on the East Coast of Florida for the weekend, and get to Disappearing Island. Couldn't get close to the boat as they hosted 27.3 inches of rain Wednesday thru Saturday night. Sunday we land yachted up to St. Augustine for the tourist run, and didn't get a drop. Monday something blinded us, and stayed so until we got to Tampa. One big squall, and done.
All in all , we're making up for 11 months of no significant rain in Florida.

The good news is that I haven't had to go out and rinse the deck lately. It's on auto rinse every afternoon......

......Todd, what the hey - post 'em if you got 'em !!!(we forgot our camera)

We had a lot of Pictures of our People, not so much of the boating. I do have video but I left the VidCam on the boat.

This was the second trip in a row we've run over to Jones Island for Memorial Day with my brotherTroy( and 2 kids), his girlfriend(and 3 of her 4 kids), My Cousin Brady(his Wife and 2 kids), my Cousin Megan(and her Husband and 2 kids) and Mo and I and twins.
I left work around noon on Friday, grabbed the boat and left home @ 3. Followed by Megan and her family, we ran up to dump in at Swinomish, where we met Brady and his family. It was perfect timing, he just had his boat in the water and we were right behind him. It could not have been better weather. Our boats were stuffed with gear, since two families were camping. Troy's 19' SeaRay Seville Cuddy, stuffed dropped off my neice and nephew late Friday afternoon, then ran over to Orcas to pick up his GF and kids.

We arrived at Jones to find a couple of 21 or so year olds holding the 30 Minute loading zone with a dink, a guitar and a bottle of red wine. We asked to come along there to unload. We quickly realized that they were trying to hold the spot for their friends who had run to Friday harbor in a sailboat for medicine. Rule #6 says no holding spots with dinghies. + the loading zone is between 8AM and 3PM so we could have made a stink and stayed. Anyway, I told him we'd stay there until his buddy got back. One boat was kind enough to allow the "Brady Bunch" to tie alongside him. Troy slipped alongside him and after talking to another Blowboater he said I could come alonside him if it came down to it, as he was leaving in the morning. So we get the landlubbers gear ashore and setup and hang out for awhile. Around 7:00 or so and darkness nears Mo was nervous about where we'd be so I move my boat along the sailboat. The ranger comes and hears about the "Dinghy Boys". He shoos them away and Troy moves into that spot. A couple hours later it's very Dark and a 42' sailboat shows up. It's the Dinghy Boys friends. He would have hung off the end 20' and had been gone since noon.

Anyway, we all got our permanent spots in the morning and it settle in to just be fantastic. We made friends with the dock, pulled a guy out of thr drink when he fell out of his dink at the dock.

We packed up yesterday AM and headed up to Sucia at low tide. It was a beautiful ride up there. Arriving at low tide wasn't such a great idea, but we timed it just right and we were able to get a spot on the dock and raft all three boats alongside. We hung out there in again perfect weather until about 3:45 or so. We headed back to Swinomish stopping at Anacortes to pump out(that's a nice facility) dropped off a couple extra kids with their parents, were back home, boat washed and tucked back in it's garage by 7:30.

It could not have been a better trip. I hope all of your's went as well.
