We sat on the boat at the dock for a few hours yesterday and made margaritas, listened to music, and hung out. It was a beautiful day and plenty of boaters were out. The ramp and parking spots were completely full! Yesterday, we could see in the distance an aerobatic aircraft near Topsail island about 8-10 miles away (smoke trails were highly visible).
Today, we ventured through Nixon Channel and Rich Inlet to the north end of Figure 8 island. We saw a couple of cruisers that were rafting up, one was a Sundancer in the middle. I couldn't identify the other two. Now we know that tomorrow we can safely navigate to our favorite stomping grounds in our new-to-us boat with plenty of draft beneath us.
By the way, we will be anchoring at Figure 8 Island tomorrow in the early afternoon if anyone wants to raft up. Let me know!
