Anyone replaced their e120 mfd with new versions? Maybe considering upgrading and want to make sure its worth it. Anyone have experience with the new Raymarine line compared to e120?
Thx

I replaced one of my E120's with the new HybridTouch last season. I did it only because I had a problem with the unit. IMO, I don't think it's worth it and don't feel you will get the bang for your buck coming from an E120. The touch screen is a nice feature and the zoom in and out is faster. Creating a route is easier because you can move around the screen with your finger. However, the one major problem I have with it are the size of the bouy icons. I've mentioned this issue in other posts. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to change the size of the bouy icons and believe me, I tried and even checked with my installer. The buoys are close in size to the depth readings and although they have color, they are hard to distinguish and you need to search for them. As you know, on the E120, they are very easy to spot quickly.

I agree with Steve. I went from E-120's to E120W's. the font size for depth and obstructions is way too small and not adjustable. I did install HD Radar at the same time as the MFD upgrade and that is a world of difference from the standard definition radar. BTW, if you didn't know, the newer generation Raymarine MFD's only accpet HD or digital radar inputs, so unless you're using a new MFD as a chartplotter only you'll need to upgrade radar too.

Excellent point, Brian. If I recall correctly, W-Series is the last series can be used with standard def radars. Anything beyond that will require you upgrading to HD radar and possibly the rest of electronics such AP, Tri-data, DSM, etc.

Did you guys try contacting RM regarding the buoy image size change? I think E-series allow font size change.

My bones tell me that Raymarine will launch a new version of the "new" e series soon... :) E series (capital E) is the old series.

Since you already have Digital Radar - then I would stay with Raymarine.

And the new e/c series does NOT (yet) allow for change of Symbol size's.
