I changed out the large idler pulley as it was making some noise. Reused belt that was in perfect condition. This motor has the manual tension adjustment where you use a 5/8 to secure and 5/16 to turn the pinion stud.
I have the pulley fully maxed out to the top of the adjustment and it is still not as tight as I want it as I can turn the long belt run more than 90 degrees. I tested it a couple times at the dock then took the boat out and it threw the belt.
I did not check where the adjustment was before loosening to change the pulley but it's the same exact size pulley and the same belt that I took off. When It's idling everything looks great with ZERO wobble in any of the pulleys.
Anyone else had this issue?
What would you guys do to get proper tension? Larger idler pulley? Smaller belt?
