For you guys with the dual battery setups, what are you doing for battery cables? Are you getting preterminated ones, having them made or making them yourselves? Preterminated prices are all over the place with actual marine wire being very expensive. Yet, places like Overtons sell complete cables for around $10 but they are not tinned marine wire. Is it worth having them made with genuine Ancor cables or such?

Personally, I have had several opinions based on where I use the boat, fresh water, and that regular automitive stuff is fine for me. However, I want to do this right.

So, I ran across this guy on Ebay and then found his actual website:

I spoke to Greg briefly this afternoon and his custom cable assemblies are half the price of anywhere else and use marine cable. Does anyone have any experience with him? What do you think?

This thread was actually started on the Sport boats forum and it was getting off topic so here we are:

I have had good luck buying marine (tinned) wires from HiFiSoundConnection.com. You can do a search for "tinned" or take a look at this link. this one is blue in color but I have bought red and black from them too.

You still need to add the battery terminal ends to them but there are ends from stereo companies, like Stinger, that make it easy. Like these:

Hope this helps...

Thus far, and not sure if its the best idea in the world, but I'm using the wires available at Walmart for 1/5 the price. If they last 2 years i figure I got my moneys worth. Granted the environment they are in is more humid than normal, if your not in salt water it shouldn't be an issue at all.. The tinned wires are just coated to offer more protection from the environment.

I ordered from Gregs. For the price, I could hardly get the Walmart variety. Thanks.

Greg is a fantastic guy. I have gotten quite bit from him and he will be who I go to in the future for marine wire purchases. His stuff is just as good as Ancor in my opinion.

I think there is a reason they come with tinned wire and to use a lesser product is asking for trouble in the long run. I prefer to do it right once. When my fun time with friends is on the line a few bucks mean nothing. MM

Well, I ordered from Greg's on Thursday evening and the complete order showed up on Monday. The order included three made to order cables to boot. I could not be happier with the quality, service and pricing.
