we are thinking about traveling from Conway to Georgetown on the ICW this Labor Day w/e....last year we docked at the Georgetown Landing Marina and stayed in the hotel right at the marina....that was nice but we had to take a cab into town....this year we would like to dock and stay closer to the main section of Georgetown...can anyone recommend a marina that accepts transient boats and a hotel or bed & b'fast that is close by?....we do not want to have to take a cab or walk too far from the boat to the lodging and we would like to be close enough to walk to a couple good restaurants....

thanks...

My favorite is Harborwalk Marina. It's just a few minutes walk to restaurants and downtown Georgetown. The docks and buildings were rebuilt a few years ago, and I've always had good luck there. Harbor House Bed and Breakfast is about a block away.

I have stayed at both Georgetown Landing and Harborwalk Marina. Definitely prefer Harborwalk. Walking distance to everything. We spent some time there last summer. The docks were in good shape and showers were clean. Have dinner at the River Room Restaurant. It's one of our favorites.

thanks for the replies....it looks like the only lodging near the water is the Harbor House B&B...but they have a 2 night stay minimum and we only need the room for one night...we could sleep on the boat and dock at one of the marinas you guys mention but since our boat is small and we don't have ac we will stay at a hotel....all of the hotels appear to be inland a ways so we will likely just stay at the Hampton Inn at the Georgetown Landing Marina like we did last year and take a cab into town....looks like the trip from Conway to Georgetown is around 40 miles by water...does that seem about right?....just trying to get a feel for how much time we should allow for the trip....

thanks...

We've taken a taxi from Harborwalk to the Hampton Inn. I think it was about $7. David will also take you if he's not busy with the marina.
