Did anyone else marinas increase prices for the following year? Mine in Patchogue went up around 20ft.. Now at $160ft

I haven’t checked yet. Probably go to the boat tomorrow, we’ll see. We pay ours in 4 increments starting in March. Ours go by slip size mine is 30x14
I was at $5280 last year water and power included. One free haul out a year, gas discounted for members to what they put it in the ground for. Staff are great and they keep the marina nice.

Lindenhurst up ~5%
In Huntington I have a buddy who went up over 15%

Boy I hope ours doesn’t go up 15%, Queen is diss-enchanted with the boat, for her it’s now just an expensive kayak rack.

Ours have gone up year over year since we've been there the past 3 years. They are now charging us to use the dinghy dock. Word is they are "eluding" to your summer slip not being there if you don't winter with them and throw them some work. Wouldn't mind wintering there but its 1.5 hours away. Easy in the summer but not motivational in the winter.

Ugh, I couldn’t imagine boating in CT, I was stationed at Groton dry docking subs in the mid 90’s we (just the Queen and I) lived in Norwich, it was a neat little town but you know you’re in for it when the school buses have automatic chains.

Yep - Last year Safe Harbor went from annual to seasonal and stayed the same price for seasonal as annual. Now 2024 went up ~10% from this season. Winter is still $50/ft in water and $32/ft out of water, but you need to use them for bottom paint and wax.

I couldn't imagine not boating in CT specially in the Mystic/Groton area. You're a skip and a jump from so many great areas. Our home port is lower Fairfield county which puts us 2-3+ hours from anywhere good. Our summer slip puts us a stones throw from excellent boating. Even our kids love it and that's rare to keep them engage as they get into the teen years. Because of this whatever the outcome, we just have to grin and bear it until demand falls off and the marinas start making concessions for our business.

But at least with safe harbor you get fuel discount and free nights at other locations which is better than what you get with most other marinas.

Yes and this year it was a huge savings. I am at almost $2300 saved between free nights and fuel and it was at places I regularly go.

But they are not sure what they are doing with 2024. This year was unlimited nights at other SH marina's and fuel was supposedly at cost. Still saved a huge amount.

I am gone almost every weekend May through July 4th, then every other to the end of Sept. Oct is hit or miss with the weather, so as much as possible. So I saved big this year because I use my boat. There are others that are just dock queens, so no savings there.

Yep, your area was one of my favorites. Loved the CT River and Essex Island Marina and Hamburg cove etc. And to your point a couple of hours and your in Block. What could be better then that. My two favorite places on earth, Block and Hamburg Cove.

I wish my SH would do bottom paint and wax, they play the environmental card on the paint and staffing on the wax. It’s just a pain to have to get on different contractor schedules. Oh well quit crying and go cruise the lake. Supposed to be beauty here this weekend.

Yeah, it is third party here as well. But they still require it. They charge an entrance fee to contractors for every time they work on a boat, and it's not cheap, it's like $50 or more per entry. So only a few are willing to come in. Don't get me wrong, I'm not doing it myself anyway so what's the difference.

What are the two shorter and fatter than vhf antennas on your boat?

Yep my SH has started the same thing with the $50 to work on a boat. There are work arounds though

I’m not holding my breath waiting for marinas to start making concessions. My marina charges by the slip, and rates have gone up every one of the eight years that I have been there. The free nights at MKT are pretty expensive too. The last time I went I couldn’t use them. The best the could do is give 30% off.
