Our marina usually sustains nominal ice damage each winter. This year has taken it toll and our April 15 opening has been pushed back. We have very nice floating docks and quite a few have been ripped fron thier mounts including the water and power lines. A record number of center pilings have popped out. Amazing to see 1/2 steel plate ripped from the force of ice and wind. Any one else havine marina delay opening due to heavy damage?

We walked around the marina yesterday, and it was hard to find a dock without damage. Almost every dock had something wrong, and some docks had damage to EVERY float.

It's been a tough winter.

they stay in year-round. Normally, the ice just pushes the floats up, so the docks may be angled during the freeze, but usually don't suffer major damage.

This year it looks as if the ice "held on" to some floats, while raising others, so the plastic was literally torn from the mounts. Brutal.

That's crazy, you'd think the Marina's would start to wise up and pull all the docks out for the winter. I don't think there is a Marina on Catawba that still leaves floaters in the water anymore.

they are left in the water at Milwaukee and they do put some circulating pumps in but, obviously not near what is required to solve issue.
