Maretron DSM410 counter setup and display

For the benefit of others and the reason -
It would be a nice feature to know there is a problem with the Vacuflush system; most problems are related with vacuum leaks and the pumps beating themselves to death cycling all day long. Problems can manifest in something getting lodged in the duckbill valves, a leak developing in a hose, failed vacuum switch, failed bellows, a leak on the toilet - a multitude of issues we all deal with.
So, if we could see a display of how many times the pump has come on and turned off the issue could be corrected preventing the system from wearing itself out.
So, going back to a thread I started on replacing and improving the SR Systems Monitor, that arrangement is perfectly set up to add the counting on the vacuum pump cycling. All that is needed is a channel on the Maretron RIM100 to interface with the vacuum switch on the vacuum pump and a bit of configuration as @SKybolt took us through above.

Or you can document guests who flush too much…

In the forest if no one is around does a tree make a sound when it falls?
19 cycles in four days and I never heard it run once when I was around.
The "1" in the guest head was me testing it because it read zero when I showed up today.

Hmmmm - knowledge is good but knowing is troublesome.
witch hunt or good to go? Eating me up - gotta go find it.

OK, this morning I reseated the two duckbill valves under the starboard vacuum generator (VG4) pump. Ten minute job. Sometimes they can be a bugger to get perfectly seated in the retainer grooves. From my experience 90 percent of leaks after duckbill replacement is right here. Then reset the counter. I did a few things around the boat for an hour or so and the counter remained at zero. Let's see.

Well, that counter kept ticking up - cycled 15 times a day for the Master Head. Guest Head stayed at zero.
I replaced the vacuum switch on the generator and the tank lid gasket but still no joy.
I finally replaced that O-ring between the vacuum generator pump and the tank. I thought it was new but must have been the other generator. That was the guilty party. I went to the boat today and found after five days the counter still on zero for both heads. Yea!

Secondly, a hack for the Maretron DSM to reset the counter -
To issue a command to a device (RIM100 for example) the Maretron DSM display needs to be in "Control Mode".
Make sure you are on the counter page then go to Configuration and toggle the display from Auto or Manual to Control.
Go back to the counter display page. There will be a bright highlighted line around the counter display. You can toggle between the display boxes with the up and down arrows.
Select the box you want to reset and press the display power button. A dialog box will come up asking yes or no to reset the counter with yes and no over a couple of the buttons.
After resetting press the execute button then the configuration line and return the display to Auto or Manual.

Congrats! Nice work, man I hate that S**t :D

Theres an easier way to reset the counter, just go to configure devices, RIM100 and select Reset Counter/Timer. It's the first SS in post#11.

Glad to hear you got it fixed and working.
